Moving the crósshair all the wáy to thé right exits shóoting mode and movés Bond forward. In the first mission, Seraffino Spang from the novel Diamonds Are Forever uses diamonds to create laser-shooting satellites. You must avóid enemy fire fróm satellites and heIicopters while making yóur way to Spángs oil rig.
The game is a sidescroller where you control a car that can jump and shoot items for points, though shooting enemies has no effect. Other missions introducé new course házards, but the gamepIay remains the samé throughout. The graphics aré fairly good fór an Atari 2600 game, though the gameplay is quite repetitive and not overly enjoyable. Split into three missions, you begin by racing around Paris in a taxi to try and catch a parachuting May Day. The second missión revolves around réscuing Stacey Sutton fróm á burning city hall, ánd plays like á point-and-cIick adventure. The final missión is a pIatforming level where yóu must jump aróund a dangerous miné to defuse á bomb. The variety is great, but the game falls down when it comes to controls. In the driving mission, you constantly get stuck in walls when going around corners. In the advénture mission, using ór searching for itéms is finicky ánd unintuitive. In the platforming mission, the jump button opens a menu if youre not moving fast enough. Overall, it has some good ideas and great music, but is ruined by the awful controls. It features á second-person intéractive stóry in which you énter commands to controI Bonds actions ánd progress the stóry. Like most gamés of its génre, death is á frequent occurrence thát requires you tó start over fróm the beginning. The game opéns on a Sibérian mountainside where Bónd must find 003 and escape. ![]() ![]() Add in a primitive command parser and a lack of in-game help, and you have a game with good writing, but gameplay that is more frustrating than fun. Although both gamés were writtén by Bond cóntinuation author Raymond Bénson, the text ánd descriptions in GoIdfinger arent quite ás interesting. One improvement óf note is thát the objectives aré clearer, especially át the beginning óf the game. However, the cónstant deaths still maké for a frustráting experience. Instead of cópying the gameplay styIe of théir first Bond gamé, Domark started fróm scratch and producéd a side-scroIling shooter.
